Independent Study Program

Valley Life Charter School offers a flexible Independent Study Program for students in grades K-12 who prefer an alternative to the traditional 5-day-a-week, seat-based classroom setting. In this program, students meet with their teachers once a week to ensure they are on track with their studies. Junior high and high school students are also required to participate in specialized labs for English Language Arts (ELA)/history and science, providing additional support and hands-on learning experiences. This program is designed to accommodate diverse learning styles and schedules, allowing students to thrive in a more personalized educational environment.

If you are interested in enrolling in our Independent Study Program, please contact Mrs. Deal at ldeal@vlcs.org to check availability.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Valley Life Independent Study began participating in the California Department of Education’s Golden State Seal Merit Diploma program. This program provides recognition to public high school graduates who have demonstrated a superior level of performance in English, math, science, and U.S. History, plus two additional subject areas. It is awarded jointly each year by the California State Board of Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. In our first year, ⅔ of our graduates received Golden State Seal Merit Diplomas.
